Do You Like to Eat? Maybe Swim and Run?

This past weekend’s North Shore Challenge was a huge success! We could not have had better weather. Lake Erie was a gorgeous 72 degrees and flat. The calibre of swimmer was second to none, with former World Champions, Great Lakes crossers, and an increased number of young pool swimmers with some serious Open Water chops. We even had Mighty Minnows!

For me, the icing on the cake was having Stoked Oats join us as the official breakfast food of the North Shore Challenge. Simon from Stoked Oats was on hand to serve us samples of their amazing Canadian-made gluten-free oatmeal as a post race snack, and feedback from racers was overwhelmingly positive! So, I have great news, North Shore Nation:

Stoked Oats is offering 20% off any order of $25 or more from their website,, using the discount code LAKEERIESWIM2018. This is a fantastic deal on an even better Canadian-made race fuel, so we really hope you take advantage! (I  will be ordering a case of Redline Oats to get me through the season – walnuts, coffee, and organic dark chocolate?? Come on!)

If you got a chance to talk with Simon at the pavilion, you’ll know that he isn’t just a businessman – he lives and breathes endurance sports himself, and is as authentic as they come. Speaking of which –

Simon is the race director for the Amphibious Challenge Swimrun Weekend in Sheenboro, QC, September 7-8, 2018. This swimrun is Canada’s only Otillo Merit Race, and as you can see from the photos, the setting is unbelievably beautiful. Roughly 2hrs from both North Bay and Ottawa, this is a race that you have to see (and compete in) to believe! Rumour has it that North Shore Challenge swimmer Ignacio Castillo is the reigning champion, as well! Simon also hosts 5km, 10km, and 5-mile runs on the same weekend, so there is something for everyone. And, because he is a great guy, he is also offering everyone involved in the North Shore Challenge a discount code: AC5OFF. If you aren’t convinced, check out this beautiful video, and you’ll be sold!
